Time schedule
The actual installation of the foundations began in the summer of 2004. Prior to that geotechnical surveys were conducted on turbine locations. The purpose of these surveys were to obtain the necessary detailed knowledge on the properties of the seabed.

On Sunday 22 August 2004 the large installation vessel "MPI Resolution" arrived at the Kentish Flats site with the first six foundations. The vessel was positioned at the most eastern position in the row nearest land and jacked itself out of the water by means of the six huge legs.

On Tuesday 19 October 2004 the last of the 30 monopiles was installed. The completion of the installation works was achieved one month ahead of the original time schedule. Diving teams continued working on the foundations to complete the internal tubes for the submarine cables between the turbines and cables to shore.

The night between June 29 and June 30 the first of the 30 nacelles were installed at the site and on Saturday, 30 July at 11.56 a.m. the first wind turbine was synchronized to the grid and started generating electrical power.

Monday 22 August, the last of the 30 wind turbines was successfully erected and the installation vessel “Sea Power” left the Site.

And finally Saturday 10 September the last of the 30 wind turbines was successfully started up and began generating clean electricity to the grid.
