| Turbine erection |
The wind turbines was mounted by means of a large purpose-built vessel with submersible legs. A crane on the vessel lifted the turbines into place. Towers and nacelles was pre-installed at the harbour to minimize the offshore installation work.
Once the crane vessel was positioned next to the foundation with the transsition piece mounted, the tower was lifted in place. Then the nacelle, with two pre-installed blades, was lifted on to the tower and was bolted to the top flange. Finally the third blade was installed by means of tailor-made lifting equipment. The lifting process is critical and required good weather conditions.
The crane vessel remained next to the tower during final installation and final tightening of the bolts.
The turbine installation began late June 2005, and the whole wind farm was fully commissioned by September 2005.
